St Thomas Girls High School, Perumanoor, the temple of learning, provides wings of wisdom and motivates all those who come to it seeking knowledge to soar high. Today it has become an ocean flowing everywhere around the world. This small spring of wisdom, which traces back to the humble beginning in 1939, in a small thatched hut with palm leaves, has now become a mighty torrent. This school, which has left behind eight decades, has ample reasons to be proud of to thank God.

The school situated in the heart of Kochi started to cater education to the poor girls in the area. Therefore, yes, this stream is an outcome of virtue, of compassion.

The school's strength from LKG to Std X is around 1700 every year.42 highly dedicated and qualified teachers and four non-teaching staff render their invaluable service. Working hours are from 9 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. The teachers take utmost care of the weak students until 4.30 p.m. The staff members solicitously make home visits to pupils. Saturdays and holidays are set apart for extracurricular activities like delivering the speech, music, musical instruments and dance.

There is daily coaching in basketball, hockey and throw ball from 7.00 to 8.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m to 5.00 p.m. Besides, several clubs such as Maths Club, Science Club, Nature Club, IT Club, English Club, Malayalam Club and Social Science Club are very active. There is also conscientious training and participation in Naval NCC, Little Kites, Junior Red Cross,SPC, Bharath Scouts and Guides. Alumni Association also is functional. They meet batch-wise occasionally.

With a view to the personality development of the pupils, associations like DCL, KCSL, Literary and Cultural gatherings are conducted as well. Furthermore, the pupils actively participate in the celebrations of national and international special days.

The school has a sound library with valuable books to inculcate love for reading and acquire comprehensive knowledge. There are effectively functioning Science Lab, Computer Lab, Maths Lab, and Social Science Lab, and the pupils are fortunate to learn each subject in High Tech classrooms. The calm and serene atmosphere enveloping the school is very conducive to effective learning. Every year, the pupils get golden chances to visit significant places, refresh their minds, and enhance their knowledge. The pupils excel in extracurricular activities, sports and games. They bring laurels in LSS, USS and other scholarship examinations. The management is keen on arranging motivational classes helpful for character formation and imbibing spiritual values. Education aims to give birth to a generation rich in culture and values.

Every year the school comes out with flying colours, securing good results. Six school buses ply an excellent help for the students to reach school safely. Noon feeding is availed for Nine hundred pupils. The School Parliament is very effectively involved in the day-to-day affairs of the school. The PTA and MPTA wholeheartedly support the smooth running of the school.

This land in which Venerable Fr.Varghese Payapilly has left his footprints is a pilgrim place. May we be blessed to keep up its heritage.
